Happy New Year

It's December 31st and we are just 12 hours away from the start of a new and exciting year. As I look back on the past year, I can not help but be satisfied with my decision to come to Darden. In a previous life, I was a pilot in the Air Force, flying in Iraq and Afghanistan. Now, I am a first year student at Darden, having completed the first 2 quarters earlier this month. The experience has been both overwhelming and exciting at the same time. My classmates are all impressive and I was surprised at how much variety the admissions committee was able to fit into a 330 person class. Although I am enjoying our month-long winter break, I am eager to start the next quarter in mid-January and start to learn again. Over the break, I went to Wall Street on a school sponsored trip to visit the Banks in New York. It was very enlightening. The first week in January, I will be going on a school sponsored trip to spend a week on a factory floor in Radford, VA learning about quality improvement processes. Then school will start back up and the 64 person sections will be different, so I will get to know some of my classmates a little better. I am sure this next year will be even better than the last and the intern recruiting process and summer internship will have unique challenges all their own. I can't wait!!
Cheers,
